I have written a 2nd article. It is not yet published. Here is the 1st par - if you wish to read it please email me at

God bless you.
In my previous article published by the Center for a Just Society , I argued that the solution to our health care ‘crises’, and to poverty in general, rests on the Christian Principle of Subsidiarity which has been an integral part of Catholic Social teaching for over a century. Subsidiarity states that only things that need to be done at the national or "federal" level should be done by a "federal" government, whereas those things that can be done at the local or even smaller level should be done at those levels. My thesis is that we must reject Caesar (the government) as a partner in this important issue, and that the Principle of Subsidiarity must be applied to our Church, not the government. Jesus never talked to or challenged Caesar to be a source of relief for the sick or poor. This leads me to the conclusion that the Principle of Subsidiarity falls directly on the Church (us). I suggest that this leads us to the moral necessity of profound involvement of individuals (you and I) and our parishes as the basic units in rescuing the poor from sickness, isolation, and poverty.
